Reactions as Retiring German Embassy Employee 'Rejects' Posh Cars, Chooses Chicken: "Luhya Spirit" .

  Germany’s ambassador to Kenya has bid farewell to a long-serving gardener in a way that quickly caught public attention. Hesbon Imbwaka, who worked at the German mission on Nairobi’s Riverside Drive for 34 years, officially retired at the end of August. His departure was marked by Germany’s ambassador to Kenya Sebastian Groth, who took to social media to thank him for his dedication and to hand over a certificate of recognition.  The post drew warm tributes but also stirred debate over what form of appreciation would be fitting for someone who had spent his career in the service of the embassy. Curiosity soon turned into banter after the envoy jokingly suggested that Imbwaka would be gifted dozens of luxury vehicles. In a playful tweet, Groth claimed the retiree would be handed one Mercedes and one BMW for every year he worked, prompting Kenyans online to wonder if he was about to drive away in 68 German-made cars. Kisii funeral drama: Kibagendi explains near-fistfight with MP Nyakundi.

  Kitutu Chache South MP Anthony Kibagendi has cleared the air on the chaos that erupted  at a Kisii funeral , where he nearly exchanged blows with his Kitutu Chache North counterpart, MP Japheth Nyakundi. Speaking during an interview on Monday, September 15, 2025, Kibagendi said the tension was triggered after the crowd began chanting “Wantam,” a slogan which admitted that he likely added fuel to the fire by continuing to exaggerate the slogans and that Nyakundi, who was overseeing the event as emcee, reacted aggressively because he did not like Kibagendi’s comments. “The Member of Parliament there, because he’s a sycophant of the system and the President, did not like it, that I was probably pouring fuel into the fire,” Kibagendi explained. The MP said Nyakundi attempted to wrestle the microphone from him and physically remove him from the stage.
