Kitutu Chache South MP: SHA is not a reform, it’s a scam

 



Kitutu Chache South Constituency Member of Parliament, Antony Kibagendi, has come out strongly against the government’s decision to dissolve NHIF and implement the new Social Health Authority (SHA).

According to the legislator, SHA is not a reform as alleged by the government; instead, he argues it is a scam.

The Kitutu Chache South Member of Parliament made his remarks on Monday, September 15, 2025, during an interview with a local media house, where he faulted the government’s rush to implement SHA.

On his part, he argues that if SHA was indeed a reform, the implementation would have slowed down and taken a bit of time, unlike the rush witnessed.

“First, I would like to state categorically that SHA is not a reform; SHA is a scam. It’s a scam in the sense that if it were indeed a reform, the implementation would have taken a bit of time,” he said.

He further revealed that the rushed implementation was for those who are behind the SHA to hurriedly start earning from the new reforms.

“The rushed implementation was for those who are behind SHA to hurriedly start earning from this particular scheme. So, when we were working on the laws around healthcare, the SHA, the chief of primary healthcare and emergency and critical care, and the bills,” Kibagendi said.

UHC manager clarifies SHA system outage concerns.

  Universal Health Care (UHC) manager Gilbert Osoro has clarified recent concerns raised over health care systems not working appropriately while admitting some faults at times with the system. The UHC manager made his remarks on Monday, September 15, 2025, during an interview with a local media house, where he revealed that UHC has put up adequate mechanisms to ensure that the healthcare system is working.
