Hesbon Imbwaka, who worked at the German mission on Nairobi’s Riverside Drive for 34 years, officially retired at the end of August. His departure was marked by Germany’s ambassador to Kenya Sebastian Groth, who took to social media to thank him for his dedication and to hand over a certificate of recognition.  The post drew warm tributes but also stirred debate over what form of appreciation would be fitting for someone who had spent his career in the service of the embassy. Curiosity soon turned into banter after the envoy jokingly suggested that Imbwaka would be gifted dozens of luxury vehicles. In a playful tweet, Groth claimed the retiree would be handed one Mercedes and one BMW for every year he worked, prompting Kenyans online to wonder if he was about to drive away in 68 German-made cars. The remark, which was clearly tongue-in-cheek, fuelled humor...
